Who are we?

We are a dues-based organization representing the interests of Washington State independent auto dealers. We support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for all WA State independent auto dealers. All of our members will feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued.

We work collaboratively with our members, advisors, and industry leaders to develop new ideas, methodologies, and policies to help move our industry forward. Our mission centers around support, education, and representation in serving Washington State independent auto dealers. Why choose Independent Dealers Education Association for your industry representation and education requirements?

We have worked in the auto industry for over 20 years, so this association and all of our educational materials have been developed by independent dealers for independent dealers. You wouldn't have an electrician install your plumbing or have your mechanic do carpentry work. You should expect your industry support, education, and representation to be led by industry professionals who have worked in the industry.

On Demand Continuing Education for Current Licensed Independent Auto Dealers - Our course is fully online and it can be completed around your busy schedule. We've developed a comprehensive curriculum targeting industry news, best practices, new and upcoming legislation, and reviews of state and federal regulations to help keep you in compliance. We also work with state agencies to ensure our education goes beyond the minimum compliance requirements mandated by law.

Who is required to complete the education?

Our new dealer education class is required as part of the process to become an independent auto dealer licensed in WA State.

Our continuing education course is required for all licensed independent auto dealers, who sell used vehicles only, in order to renew the motor vehicle dealer license.

Do you have to take a live class for the education credits?

For our new dealer education class, yes you do need to take a live class. Our class is taught through a live virtual class through Zoom.

For our continuing education course, you do not have to attend a live virtual class. Our continuing education course is an online course that can be completed at your own pace and can be taken anytime, anywhere.

How does our education compare to other groups that offer education?

We've developed our educational materials with your busy schedule in mind. We know you are busy and your time is valuable, so we won't waste it. All educational materials are developed by independent dealers for independent dealers and is focused solely on information that is relevant to your day-to-day operations and compliance with the law.

Our new dealer education class is offered in a 1-day format and our auto dealer continuing education course is just one course that will satisfy the full 5-hour credits that you need in order to renew your dealer's license. We are the only association that offers an online continuing education course.

What is our refund policy?

We will only issue a refund upon written notice and prior to receiving our educational materials. A $35 service fee will apply. We will not issue a refund after the participant receives the educational materials. Our educational materials will be sent approximately 4 days before the scheduled class. In the unlikely event that class is canceled by IDEA due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, you agree to have IDEA move your original class registration date to another available date rather than IDEA offering a refund.

If you have registered for a New Dealer Education class and need to reschedule, please give us a call. We are happy to reschedule you!

We will only issue a full refund for the payment of membership dues upon written notice. No refunds shall be given where a service is deemed to have begun. A service has begun after successful registration and payment along with downloading any forms or enrolling into the educational course.
